The E36 M3 became available with a 5-speed auto about halfway through its life in North America, about the same time the 4-door M3 became available, IIRC.

Don't know if you count SMG as an auto. It's not, really, but can function like one.

Well, I'm from Holland, Europe. And overhere the M versions never were deliverd with an automatic gearbox. It wasn't even an option.
