Default Idle on S38 is 850-950

it's the rebuild and repaint that is scary

If the motor was good and the interior was buffalo and in black, it'd make a nice parts car for the touring.

You have a to figure a decent 3.6 or 3.8 M5 motor is about $10k. Why not get the suspension, transmission, brakes and what not thrown in?

Someone has posted this car on this forum before - and it wasn't within the past 3 days.
Not implying anything other than finding the previous listing might be informative !
