Default Bad DME where to get a cheap one?

My DME is bad in my 93 525i automatic. I found this one and the number matches on the red bosch sticker. Will it work?

I believe it should work. The fact that he indicates the cover has been off of it bothers me a little. On the upside, it could have an aftermarket chip in it, but on the downside, it could have been opened up for a solder repair job & was sold because it had intermittent problems. $50 is a good price but I would ask the seller to let you return it for a full refund if it turns out to be defective.

Vines has lots of these & puts them on ebay all the time. $40 used to be their starting bid price. Call & see what they want for one outright.

The place Winfred works at (German Auto Recyclers) is a good place to try also.

Take that $85 one. What is wrong with yours?
You may need to change some coil packs, as if they have failed thay will kill any replacement DME you install also.

Does the car seem to be running on less than 6 cylinders? Then to be on the safe side, you may want to change all 6 coil packs. They tend to fail after 6 to 8 years.

I cannot believe how expensive these things are in USA.
If someone wants the DME's and EML's from my E32 750 parts cars for that prices, I would even pay for the shipping.
Have the MOTRONICS of 3 cars now plus 3 EML, plus CCM's, LKM's, GM, RM, clusters with kmh and all the other stuff for E32 750iL.
    Production years 1988, 1990.
The parts from the 750iL from 03/1994 I will keep for myself.

Before you buy a new one or chuck the old one, why not re-flow the solder joints and see if that fixes the problem? Often the fault is from a hairline crack at a solder joint on the circuit board, cured with a ~$10 soldering pen from Radio Shack.
