Anyone hunting air-leaks causing idle problems

Make sure your sump bolts are all tight. I've been chasing for leaks for a while now, replacing many things, rebuilding the head and so on- just noticed quite a few of my sump bolts were a bit loose... not sure if this was me being sloppy at some point earlier or if it might be common thing, just wondered how they might be on other member's cars. I seldom get the car above me so they managed to live for some time both 'out of sight and out of mind'...

Any air leak into the engine will roughen the idle and make it hard to tune the idle air bleed screw. If your engine will still idle with this tightened up, you have a leak somewhere that is giving it the air it needs to operate... and unmetered air it doesn't need when you are accelerating (causing a lean condition).

id tighten them up pretty much every oil change on the 535, ****ing cork gasket, if id known id lock tighted the bolts when i changed the gasket with the engine on the stand
