i had to buy a special spanner for the job, 32mm, slim to fit between block and fan blades.
Doing th ewater pump on my 95 530 tonight (hopefully). Anyone know what size that big nut is to get the fan off? Might have to borrow a wrench from work!
Thanks!

Recently did mine...a 1 1/4" cheap, run of the mill, normal, made in china, box wrench worked great. No need for Craftsman. Find one at the local flea market.
FYI. 32mm is just a hair wider than 1 1/4".
If you want a cheap (inexpensive, but good quality) thin 32mm wrench, head down to your local bike shop. Ask for a Park Headset/Lockring Tool (HCW-12). Should be about $15 bucks or so.

it's reverse thread, from the top pull the wrench to the left, driver side in the us
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
Dont be scared to smack the crap out of it until it comes loose.
But doesn't it turn towards the passenger side here in the US?

Another wrench option, is to buy a regular thickness wrench, and slim it down on a grinder. I think I've got about $9 in mine!
