go for it...I chipped my 91 735iL at about the same mileage you're at and loved it...never had any problems...except for the big fat grin on my face!![]()
I am thinking I want to chip my car, but with 167K don't know if that is the right thing to do. I don't really need any more Hp, I ahve jsut been reading how the EAT chip has made things smoother.
Please give me your feed back.
Thanks,
Stephen

Thanks. Which chip did you go with? Stock rev or did you increase. I don't plan on hitting redline, mainly because of mileage.

I installed the JC chip back then...if I did it today...I'd probably install Mark D'Sylva's EAT chip. I've since sold teh e32...so don't hold me to the specifics...I don't remember the "limits". What I do remember is that it woke up that 2 ton beast and made it more responsive (around 2500rpms) in taking off and in city traffic. The e32 was such a large car and kind of lumbard off the line...chipping the M30 engine in the e32 really helped.
If you are in the least bit intuitive...you'll be able to tell a difference.

I plan on putting an EAT chip into my BMW and it has just short of 230,000 miles on it.Originally Posted by Badkrma

My 535 has the same mileage, and I've been running an EAT chip for a couple of months now with only good results.
You may want to order a chip that preserves the stock rev limit, though. Especially if you have an auto. Then your chipped motor should wear no faster than before. Mark, who makes the EAT chips, offers them with both stock and raised rev limits.
Im not sure i would worry too much about redlining your 535i. Yes, it is easier on the car but it can last 500,000miles with proper attention and probably very rare redlining. Even if redlining it occasionaly cut the engines life in half, you could still get 250k out of it with proper maintainence. Just my opinion, but if your fear of redlining it is making you enjoy the car less, im not sure you should worry so much. Remember, this isnt a ford escort, its a finely tuned piece of german engineering that is meant to be driven not grandpa'ed along like a buick. If thats what the engineers had in mind, the 535i would be alot more like a buick than it is.
