    Default Servotronic control location

trying to find out the problem with my sporadic stiff steering. used some Seafome product to clean and flush the system already, didn't help though. i've been reading the archives about the Servotronic control unit going bad and being able to bypass it to check it. i can't find it though, i read something about it being behind the lower speaker on the 7 series. i checked that location on my 525i but can't seem to locate it. is it there or somewhere else?

    thanks,
    RAY

See if this helps: Its a lubrication schematic of the power steering system...

The pump should be located somewhere along the steering shaft.

looks like i miss read my window sticker. i always thought i had servotronic but after rereading the paper it says "engine speed sensitive variable assist steering". servotronic would be vehicle speed sensitive, correct?

well i guess i just wait a week or 2 and do another flush on the system....any other suggestions?

Well, wait - is the steering stiff all the time? or does it come back and forth? The power steering pump might be at fault in that case. I mean as well as other things - if it was just dead it would be the pump, 99% chance it is. But if it comes on and goes out, it could be anything - the pump, the mechanism itself (if you have it of course, etc.. any one of the pieces of the system, could even be a bent hose!)

The servotronic is speed sensative steering. Expensive module. My parents are having a problem with theirs also. Found one on ebay and bought it and its the part number so we have to ebay it again.
