I know there are places that can take regular paint and make it aerosol.
specialty paint shops should do that.
Guys,
anyone have any luck finding spray touch up paint to match original BMW paint. I have a small dent on the rear corner of my newly acquired 525iT that I'd like to fix- the car is white (assuming it's AlpineWeiss I or II). I will probably just try some generic white touch up paint if no one has a source for the real thing.
Also, my wife's '91 535i now has a nice dent in the "dogleg" just in front of the rear wheel well on the passenger side!! She was pulling into the local library, when she saw a woman frantically waving her hands at someone in the parking lot- turns out it was her husband who she left in the passenger side of her car- he decided to drive around the parking lot FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE of the car and as he came around, he hit my wife's car!! !#*$!*(@#^$(*@^#%(^%
Turns out the man has a dementia-like condition, he was not old (maybe 55), and it seems he used to be a rural mail carrier- so he must have had some sort of flashback and decided to try driving from the wrong side of the car! We've gotten several estimates, ranging from ~$1300-2200- problem is, all of the estimates mention possible "hidden damage" and they all mention that the trailing arm could be bent and need replacement, but we won't know that until we get a good 4 wheel alignment check.... Oh, and the tire went flat because the impact broke the valve stem!
Anyway, her car is Islandgrun- anyone know where to find that in spray cans?
Thx, Bret.

Yeah Bret, Go To Most Any Car Paint Suppliers And They Should Be Able To Mix You A Pint And Pop It Into An Aerosol Can For You.

most large hardware stores in australia have a spray paint section, where there is usually a booklet with different car-makes/colors, and the code for their corresponding paint..
however if the paint isn't in the best condition you're better off going to a specialist paint store and asking them to match the color... most of these guys are surprisingly good as they do it for a living
i went looking for a red spray pack yesterday to touch up parts of my bumper that have started going flaky, but i got confused by all the BMW reds and my VIN number didn't give me any clues... so i'm going to get it properly matched
Hey Bret -- When you find them, let me know -- think I could just buy about 20 of them and paint my car that way?! (ha ha)
There were a few links posted a few months back to various web sites that sell this kind of stuff.

My car has a little plate under the hood, on the passenger side, near the battery which indicates the paint color: AlpineWeiss IIOriginally Posted by Rigmaster

On my cars there there is a sticker on the right side (passenger) in the engine room with a sticker with the exact name and the BMW paint number on it.
Usually if you go to such a shop where they mix it to your car's paint color, they ask for the number, not the name.
I got it mixed within 10 minutes, matches perfectly.
When you fidn the right stuff and set about painting it, paint something before spraying the actual car to compare the colour.
It is unlikley to be a good match. However you will find that painting at different temperatures will lighten and darken the finish a little bit. Using a hairdryer or painting after sundown will give you some range to work with. By testing something first at different temps and leaving it to dry until daylight the next day to see clearly how it turns out, you'll be able to fine-tune the final coat you put on the car to the exact right colourNick

I've heard good things about PaintScratch.com. I'm getting ready to order some to paint my lip and spoiler on the e30.
