my first beemer. 1990 525i 5 spd, black on black. I love it. My one question, there is sometimes a very low squeeling noise in first gear, it goes away immediately when i shift to 2nd. Anyone know what that might be?

it's either the flywheel, or clutch composition, they all do it. I just replaced my clutch with a new one, it still does it, it's just what they do! Friend's 2002 Mustang GT does it too.

try starting off from 0 on 2nd gear... if you still hear the noise, then it might be your front wheel bearings as well... they usually sound like a low howl from 0-15km/h (0-10mph) or so...regardless of the gear you're on.
