obc upgrade!?

hi guys, i need to know if its possible to upgrade the obc on my 1993 325i. mine was pretty basic no fuel range display etc.

its died so i could do with replacing.

am i able to replace with 1 of the fancy ones with the fuel range etc? of will the extra functions just not work?

i figure it *should* do, but i dont wanna buy something where 1/2 the buttons dont work!!
