    Default Trans Oil Cooler

I am looking to pick up a transmission oil cooler for my 95 530i. I have found a car which is being parted out, its a 94 525i. Will the oil cooler on this model work for mine?

Check the online ETK first. I think the all V8s had a diffent trans cooler setup than the 6ers.

Ok, the price that I was quoted for a used one, from the vehicle that is getting parted out, was $30.... I figure, that if it doesn't fit, I'm sure that someone would be in need of one.

It's actually a heat exchanger, not theoretically a "radiator" in the traditional sense, and what would be found on a M50/tu car.

Antisieze the fittings before tightening the lines. I would be wary of buying a used one. The aluminum threads normally strip on their way out. $189 is reasonable if it's OEM; the dealer charges something like $230.

    best, whit

    Hey Whit,

Yes, it's OEM. I figured, I'd have it inspected before installing it, just to make sure that it's worth it. It would be pointless to have it installed while having my engine replaced, just to have it replaced later. So we will see how good this $30 spent will be.

Thanks all for the information! Now just to find some style 5 center caps...

    So Partshelp

What is your deal? Six posts since July and all look about like this one. Do you own a 5 series? Do you work for a parts place? Are you mostly a lurker? Who are you?

The information you offer is very valuable but I can't get past the reaction of "who or what was that" to appreciate it. Please join the fold. How about introducing yourself.
