Default OT 93 Colt fails echeck

My friend's 93 Colt fails the ohio e-check.. and now it's become my issue

The first two test where before I messed with it

    8-10-05 8-27-05
what reading limit what reading limit
    HC 71.1 160 HC 75.1 160
    CO 0.29 0.90 CO 0.30 0.90
    NO 1713.8 1179 NO 1717.1 1179
    Co2 14.86 n/a Co2 15.17 n/a

To me that screams overheat / egr value

So, I flush the colant, ran supercleaner, then normal cleaner with water. Took out the stat(yeah.. I know.. not very legit) and got this test with the clearer and water. The stat had some corrison on it... but it still worked.

    8-29-05
    what reading limit
    HC 104.7 160
    CO 0.23 0.90
    NO 1491.3 1179
    Co2 15.19 n/a

Thats a 225 point drop on NO, I need a 514 point drop to get 2 year ext.

The bottom rad house gets warm, so it is flowing. The valve cover gasket leaks on the car. The car doesn't even warm up to a 3rd with the stat out.. so it doesn't appear to be over heating.

The next things I swaping out are.
EGR Valve, Plugs, Dis Cap and Router.

Anyone got any great suggestions on what else to check with these numbers.

    -Charles
If it cannot be fixed by the dremel or ducktape.. get out the sledge...

Default You need to retard the timing, and remove the egr valve and check for

carbon buildup in the passages of it and the head, clean them out if they are restricted or plugged up. Verify that all the vacum lines are ok and that the egr valve is functioning. Retarding the timing as much as you can stand will help but the egr really needs to be working too... You didn't specify whether it was the 1.5 or 1.8 so i assumed 1.5

If it was mine.... it wouldn't even be worthy of risking missing up the sledge

Its the 1.5. Is there something nasty I can burn in it so I don't have to strip the car down that would help clean out any carbon in it? Do you have a guess on how teeth I can change the timing? (May be able to do that just poping the top timming best cover off)

Also.. any easy way to check the egr value, or is it best to just buy one... I have always just done the buy a new one style) I checked all the vacum lines and they look good (simple things first)

Default You rotate the distributor to change the timing not the timing belt. As far as the

egr valve , you remove the valve and then clean the passages under the valve out and remove the carbon in there, not in the whole motor...
