Default Wow, thanks Bill. I'd hate to have a blow out. I hope i can feel it on a cold tire.

Anyway all the big words aside, a driveshaft vibration rarely rears its ugly head above the 30 to 50mph range..Its most likely a internally separated tire which would account for why you don't feel it all the time..I would run my hand around the tread surface of each tire and see if you feel a bulge anywhere...Frequently this type of separation feels worse when the tire is hot such as a warm day on the highway with blacktop at higher speeds. When its cold and the tire hasn't warmed up you don't notice it as much.. If this is the problem then that tire is going to come apart on you soon..

Let me tell you, he is definitely right about that. Awhile ago I posted about a 20mph wobble in the rear. Jeff B guessed a broken belt in the tire and when I took it off, he was right. So I got 2 new tires. Same thing started happening again a week later (on the same 2 old tires). I was headed down to West Palm that weekend so I said I would get 2 more new ones while I was down there. I made it about 10 miles on the interstate before the tire shredded to bits. Learned my lesson.

But then again, that will give a vibration that feels similar to wheel shimmy or an out of balance tire.

uneducated guess here. I recently was introduced to the meaning of harmonics. After replacing tranny mounts and engine mounts all vibrations are gone. just as a matter of course, how are the mounts, you cant tell by looking some of the time. jack the engine up from the front of the sump and watch the engine mounts lift or separate. just a thought.damn your car looks nice
