Home Owners is not a requirement of owning-but it is a requirement of borrowing money. So if you own your home outright-I guess you don't need it-but your pretty dumb if you don't. Flood insurance is based on the Army Corps 100 year flood plane. Again-if your in it-your lender is going to make you get it. But if you don't have any and it floods, your SOL. It may be different in high risk areas, but that's the way it works in GA.

Everoyne has home-owners insurance that generally covers these things. Or seperate flood insurance. I belive it's a requirement of owning a home period? I don't own a place, so i don't know these things The red-cross does disaster relief and the fed's can declare a.. state of emergency, right?, that gives people access to lots of funding.

**** they won't let us get flood insurance, they said it doesn't flood where you live and you can't have it, in the 16 years i've been here it's flooded all of the houses across the street once but we are slightly higher and it only came up 3/4 of the front yard, the street had about 2'
