I utterly agree with Bill.
Get the zionsville unit. Better yet, have a good indy install it for the grand total of $2.4k including tax and get the BMW 2 year/unlimited mileage warranty with it.
It's a good idea for two reasons: 1) the valuelines that ZF sells and BMW installs in cars are inexpensive compared to a (usually partial) rebuild, 2) if the trans blows up (and I've had it happen to me -- about 2,000 miles after install -- do a search, there's a thread on it), take it to any dealer (ugh), anywhere, and they'll replace it for free.
