Burnt out bulb in the radio

I have the stock casette player, and there seems to be a burnt out light behind the display. It isn't half as legible as the trip computer display right next to it. Is replacing this light a big deal?

You can DIY if you know how to solder. Do a search on something like radio LCD or something like that. Actually I found it myself. Check out: http://www.bishopemail.com/BMW/radio_backlight.htm. That gives you a walkthrough. If you can't solder and can come up with a good LCD you can just switch them out.

Its not too hard, just make sure you don't drip solder. There is some very fine IC terminals that can be shorted in back of the LCD.

Its not too hard, just make sure you don't drip solder. There is some very fine IC terminals that can be shorted in back of the LCD.

Did you use the 8 v or 12 v bulbs?

Yeah, that's the one. I saw one on ebay allegedly in perfect working order for $10, so maybe that's a better idea.

I can solder (from my R/C days), but don't have a soldering iron. There's a radio repair shop around the corner from me that would probably do it not-too-expensively.
