The color of the back part of the cluster is a light blue. FYI, I picked up a used cluster and installed it. Just as suspected I inherited the other car's mileage so I swapped out/in my blue cluster and got my miles back. However, I don't think I noticed any change in the speedometer with the new/use cluster I installed. Therefore, I don't think my speedometer problem is in the cluster. I then changed the speed sensor in the differential and that was not the problem either. My speedo still reads slow. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Exelent URL... However, I'm still not sure how to adjust the OBC to make my slow speedometer read more accurately. Do you have any other references I could check, o' shogun?

this is very old information that has floated around the BMW message boards for a long time. You can find this info at the following link that shows you how to "UNLOCK the OBC" and how to do the instrument cluster test by holding down the odometer reset button and turning the ignition. When you do that...it will give you the info you saw in those pics a few posts back. Some of the info is the software version your car is running...some is the last 7 digits of your car's VIN (good way to tell if the car matches up): http://home.iae.nl/users/bts/obc.htm

Printing out the pages at the above link to make a "hard copy" works really nice. That way you can take it to the car with you...not to say you will...but some have to read and work at it a bit to get the understanding of what to do.
