Chain on that car. Should last forever, not an interval service item.
Whats the truth about my 95 525i's timing chain/belt? I have heard that its a belt and Ive been told its a chain? Do they need to be replaced? I have been told yes replace them at 80K and I have been told that you dont need to ever replace them? School me on this! Thanks!

If it's anything like the chain on my M42 318is, which has about a 100k-125k mile lifespan on chain/tensioners. On that one, all tensioners, guides, and sprockets need refreshing about that time. They get really noisy, and you risk jumping a sprocket and crashing the pistons.Originally Posted by Jeff N.
