    Default Heater Controls Help

Hello, On the e34 manual heater controls (with AC) are they both connected to bowden cables? The passenger dial has very little resistance when turning, but the drivers one feels like its actually doing something. Also the air vent in the rear only blows cold air-is this right?
    Many thanks in advance!

Only the vent controls are connected with cables. The temp controls are just electronic dials; they shouldn't feel any different and should be easy to turn.

The rear console vent only dumps cold air; there's a diagram in your manual.

...but as you say...it's right there in the owners manual...that it only blows "fresh" or "conditioned" air. It is similar to the front center grills in that they allow the rear passengers to utilize the function of stratified air (but without the warm/cool rheostat wheel)...cooler air on the face and warm air on the feet. Rear passengers can have some control over their comfort in the rear without having the driver change or shut off the system.

As you can see in this link to a page from the owners manual...read the bottom paragraph of the center column and the far right column as it addresses the rear passengers and the rear center vent: E34 owners manual info about rear center vent and rear passengers...
