My Beemer has been parked for about a year and I had decided to try and strip her down and rebuild her as best I could this Summer. Can anyone give me some advice as to the order in which I should tackle the various sections ie brakes, engine, steering etc and any obvious pitfalls I am likely to face.
Well, first of all, it's a bimmer, not a beemer(yes, I am being a dick)
and then, you want to read this:

I'd do suspension, brakes, cooling, and all other fluids (starting in the order of what's worst first). My suspension had gone to ****, so I started there, then the brakes/cooling and everything else. Now I'm doing cosmetics (wheels, leather restore, headliner, paint & dents).
Make sure you get that timing belt replaced, as well as the valves adjusted. And, don't go cheap -- you'll regret it in the long run.
Good luck!
Best, whit
