You can get a self powered unit - it takes a very low currrent signal from existing lights and uses its own power source to run the trailer. These are about $30 at most trailer places. Best way to do it on these cars.
Yes I know... "Sacrilage!!" - towing a trailer with a Bimmer!
But I'm selling my van and from time to time I need to move stuff. I believe there is a lighting module designed for use with trailer lighting so as to prevent the LKM from incorrectly reporting lighting problems once the trailer lights are connected to the car. Yes? No?.. or is there a mod for this somewhere? - TIA.

horsecock for the westfalia oem tow system.
adapter for US 4 pin trailers
You want this oem intergrated tow bar set up from westfalia because you can take out the horsecock and put a simple cover over the opening when not in use. It also can save your shins when arms are full of groceries.
I have the manuals at the office I have been meaning to scan, and if someone would remind me, I'd post them, or fax them to you (about 9 pages)
I promised W Zareska I'd pull apart the insulation and take pictures of how the subpanel ties into the harness, because he trying to get that subpanel in his Limo, and is having difficulty.
I'd bet that shogun could find the wiring diagram.
