    Default Wheels

I have a '95 525iT and want another set of wheels to be used for snow tires. Have found an ad in the local newspaper advertising wheels from a '98 525i; will they fit my '95 or is the offset different?

The 98 (as far as i know) only the 523, and 528i models were available in 6cyl, maybe a 520i. Anyway, the E39 has a larger hub diameter than the E34 wheels, so you will need a set of hub-centric rings to take up the slack, otherwise you will have a nasty vibration. If you can locate a set of them, possibly from www.tirerack.com, you should have no problem fitting them. The E32 7 series 88-94, E31 8 series 91-97, and all E34 wheels will fit no problem. I'm sure there are a few more, that's just off the top of my head.

thanks for the quick reply; my mistake; it is a '98 528i and not a 525i

Default any 5/6/7/8 series wheel will fit the e34 perfectly

except the e39 5 series...like bimmerd00d said in his post...the e39 is the oddball with a 74.1mm hub...whereas all the other 5/6/7/8 series have a 72.5mm hub. And their wheel offset is between 11mm-26mm. depending on wheel design and width.

e28/e34/e60 e24/e63/e64 e23/e32/e38/e65/e66 e31 - all these 5/6/7/8 series BMWs have the same wheel hub diameter and interchangable wheels and similar wheel offsets.

The e39 wheels (like already stated) need hubcentric rings to help stop vibration...sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. You can get them from the TireRack (you have to call cust service...you'll won't find them on the web site):
