Instrument panel is out

Charging has a place for 2 bulbs..The top hole didn't even have a bulb in it..The bottom bulb was not burned out. Attachment 7291Attachment 7292

On the connection going into the back there is a grey wire from the dme to the charging circuit and the blue wire going to D+. Where the bulbs go in each has 2 contact tabs. Both bottom bulb contacts show continuity to the grey wire.

One top bulb contact shows continuity to grey and the other to the blue D+.Seems like bmw would have had the bottom bulb tied to the D+ wire also.

Bulbs do not show continuity to each other unless both bulbs are in.

As the pic shows there was not even a bulb in the top hole so I am wondering how it ever charged cause the neither botton bulb contacts shows continuity to the D+ wire.Hopefully when I get it put back together tomorrow the bulbs will work
