Anyone have stats on lateral g, etc. or first hand experience with a 530i 5 speed? Looking at one, but information seems scarce. Some old mags are purported to have tests/impressions, but can't get to the source.
Thanks to all,

if you upgrade the suspension and lighten the car up a bit, you can probably pull 1G lateral with wider sport tires.
Any ten-year old cornering figures are going to be way outta date. Tires have come a long way.
Thanks for the two replies so far. I was just wondering if;
a) anyone has suspension suggestions. I want a firm ride, but I do have to go 1/2 hour to/from work per day, so I don't want to jiggle too much. Firm, not jarring?
b) anyone has old numbers for new performance, like a Road Test or First Drive, etc. I know Sports Car International has their November 1993 issue still available, and if I decide to get the car I'll probably order it just for kicks, but don't know what kind of "data" is in the article. Guess I pays my money and takes my choices, eh?
Thanks again to all,

(perhaps a 530i 5 speed in my future):p
I have answers. Stand by. I'll post again when I get home. :)
This best compromise in relation to handling/ride appears to be Koni Sports adjustables together with Eibach Prokit springs.Quote:

I have the ever-popular Sachs kit, and I love it. It does wonders for the handling, and it just makes the car feel solid and connected, but never harsh or stiff.
Okay, you wanted new performance numbers for a manual 530:
Horsepower: 215 @ 5800
Torque: 214 @ 4500
0-60: 8.9s
1/4 mile: 16.7 @ 86.2 MPH
Lateral acceleration: .81g
Slalom speed: 63.0 MPH
Braking 60-0: 123 feet
Source: Motor Trend, Road Test, October 1993
Sports Car International quotes 7.5 0-60 and a 15.7 1/4 mile. Other figures I have fall somewhere between those two. Weather on the day and the type of road surface are probably where the variance comes from.
Hope that helps.
Thanks guys. I ordered the November 1993 issue of Sports Car International, should be here in a few days or so, I guess. Now all I have to do is wait to hear from the seller, I emailed him a few times yesterday, so far no response. Gulp.

This is what you want (it includes the SCI article):

defiantly not 8.9 in 60 seconds, i did a run with my engine running like crap and partial throttle in less than 9 seconds.(vids on here somewhere)
I would say the 7.5 is corect, i myself average around a 7.9 with heavy 18"s
