My '95 525IT won't crank to start although when the ignition is in start postion the fuel pump can be heard. Funny thing is the wipers won't work either. The radio ,lights,turn signals,door locks, blower motor still work. I had the car towed home so what should I look for when it hopefully stops raining tomorrow?
check by the battery for the fusible links, any corrosion or cracks are what your looking for.
Battery may be too weak to give enough juice - has happened to me once so far.
Other possibilities are
Fusible Link - clean and intact.
Crankshaft Position Sensor - clean and operational.
Does it crank at all? just not get to idle or get to idle and die?
Thanks for the replys. I found #1,15amp fuse, blown.The fuse is for the wipers and some other things but why the starter wouldn't crank with a blown wiper fuse is strange. Replaced the fuse and all is good,it starts and the wipers work.Quote:
