ASC/Cruise Control/Throttle bowden cable Replacement

Over time the bowden cables that control ASC, cruise control, and throttle can stretch, fray, and even break. Symptoms of any of these situations could be laggy throttle or cruise control response and a sticking accelerator pedal. While you can make some tension adjustments to all three cables, fraying cables must be replaced. Seeing as the task of replacing any of these three cables is scarce, I decided to document the process and include pictures so those of you looking to replace these cables can do it in far less time than it took me. The following instructions are for the BMW 530/540, and may also apply to other cars.

To complete this job you will need a few parts, an assortment of tools, and a bit of patience. The parts for this job were purchased from BMA Auto Parts. The cables may be special order items and could possibly cause your order to ship a few days later.
