The 90 degree bent hose from the waterpump to the thermostat sprung a leak, so needs replacement. Nobody around here has one, and it'll take BMA several days to send me a replacement. What to do in the meantime?

As it happens, the lower rad hose has a 90 degree bend, and I'd saved one from the last waterpump job, as a spare. Properly cut with fishing knife, it is a pretty good fit pending a new, proper hose. Not perfect, but pretty good. ;)

Want my old one? :)

Good info. I kept anything that was halfway decent when I changed them out three weeks ago.

best, whit

I had that same hose go out, since I needing one immediatly to fix it that day I just went strait to the local BMW dealer and they had one in stock.

Great idea if you have a local BMW dealer, and they're open when you need them.

If, on the other hand, you live in East Bumphuc where BillyBob at the local car parts joint ain't got no parts for no fancy furrin cars, and/or this happens on a weekend or after hours, then you can just whip out your handy fishing knive, cut the ends off the old hose you'd wisely saved, and be back on the road pretty quick. Then call Patrick or Yves at BMA to send you the right parts for a fraction of stealer price.
