View Full Version : Dumb radiator question ???

Does a new radiator come with the expansion tank already installed?

The reason I ask is a new Behr radiator (from BMW dealer) was installed by a Volvo/cadillac used car dealer just before I purchased the car two years ago.

Now there is some leakage where the expansion tank joins the radiator botom. I suspect the gasket is shrinking in the colder weather. Of course, I can pull the tank and replace the gasket. If the tank is old, I may just buy the tank as well.

yes, I just replaced mines about a mounth ago. I got the behr from Patrick at Bma for $200.00.

Well - looks like a simple deal to replace the gasket. Drain, pull tank, replace gasket, replace tank, fill and bleed and bleed and bleed. Any problems with that approach? Some say you cannot fix a leaking expansion tank.
