Strange Problem with 90 525im

Nice clear day the other day, roads where dry. Decided to take the car for a spin (local, highway). Did some shopping, all is great. Then I dropped my wife at the grocery store and when I went to started the car (which it started right away) when I engaged the clutch it stalled. I restarted the car but every time I engaged the clutch it would stall. Again I started the car this time keeping an eye on the tach (when it started it would go to 1000rpm and drop to 800rpm). Next I try to rev the engine but nothing, I even floored the pedal and it would go to 1000rpm. Called CAA for a tow home. Once home I start the car and everything seemed to be fine. I suspect that my fuel pump may be on its way out but could it be something else? :(

I have no experience with the manuals myself, but I'd check the simple things first: when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

so if you floor it, you only get like 1000rpm out of it? Sounds like a bad fuel pump or clogged filter, i'd start with teh filter since it's cheaper. Also check Throttle Position Switch.

Changed fuel filter in Aug, replaced with original Bosch.

Would the TPS cause a shuttering/stumble when cold.
