any ideas? The child safety switch is not the issue.

Man, it's gotta be that switch. Or else the LKM. or if the switch has a relay. or both regulators went at the same time (but even then they'd go down). Maybe the M-sports guys saw fit to fuse them separately- but i'm sure you checked that.

I found this on Roadfly and it worked like a champ!

The electric motors that operate the windows in the rear doors of the E34 have a tendency to "stall". Try this:

Start the engine and let it idle with the tranny in Park and the emergency brake on.

Get in the back seat and push the rear window switch in the "down" position.

Make a fist with your other hand and hit the center of the door panel in front of the arm rest fairly hard.

This should solve your problem if the electric motor is "stalling". It has worked for me each time I have had to do it.

or slam the door with the switch held down.

Both doors were jammed? Kinda unusual.
