540 transmission swap

has anyone had experience in swaping the 5 speed auto trans of the 95 540 for a manual box. there was a 6 speed manual available for this model, but there is little chance of finding one for sale in Australia.

Any feedback even with different models would be appreciated.

There is something on the internet. gales has done it on an E32 and installed a 6 speed Getrag gear. Go to my website and then select Gale's page.

Probably it will be difficult to get such a gear. I would look on the German Ebay for E34 parts. In Germany there are in general more manul gear cars sold. Sometimes quite cheap.
I have selected here for you the gears available on German Ebay for E34.
If you go to German Ebay, just type in BMW E34 Getriebe
then you have them all. If you delete oor omit the "Getriebe" then all parts for E34 will appear.
