On the advice of members of this board and others, I have recently acquired two new front top mounts for my EDCIII equipped M-Sport 540i (from BMA in California - at around 40% less, including freight, than my local dealer). In addition, I have bought new thrust arms and bushings and stabilizer bar links.

I also acquired a copy of the Bentleys E34 workshop manual and am hoping to fit the mounts myself - with the assistance of a mechanically minded friend.

I have looked through the Bentley and am happy that I and my friend could do the job relatively simply as shown. But the complicating factor is that my car has EDCIII - which is not addressed in the Bentley.

Does anyone have any experience and advice on removing an EDCIII strut assembly? The main complicating factor would be the fluid lines to the strut, I guess. Can these be removed easily. Will we need to bleed the whole system after? Can this be avoided?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Kind regards

in the edc front struts.... They have electrical connections and these instructions must be followed but other than this you remove them like any other front strut.http://www.bimmernut.com/~billr/images/EdcIII.jpg
