Ok, post-em up. What is the best modification (performance, convenience, maintenance...whatever) you have done to your E34 (or other 5)?

The price should be around $50. If that's too low, go to $100.

I posted this thread on an old Toyota Landcruiser forum and got nearly 400 replies.

My vote:

Just purchased a key fob for my car. The PO lost it. Got it off of Ebay, and will re-program it when it arrives Friday. $31.00 including shipping.

Second one, was replacing my fog lights. The housings and lenses were cracked. Found some Depo lights for $50 for the pair.

Clear bumper sidemarkers, 4 for about $30 bucks

They just make clear corners blend right in and look great.

Those are them. Get some blue painter's tape and a can of flat black testors...still under $50

needless to say thats been the best so far.

also for 100 the M5 shifter surround... got rid of that useless expanse of wood.

50 bucks got me fitted rubber floormats and the euro trim peices were about that much too. Both make a world of difference to me

I very much like the look of this piece and when I see an E34 without it I get the feeling that it's not quite finished. For my 525i I bought this piece new from the Dealer maybe 12 years ago at a cost of over $200, and when we bought the 540i I just had to "finish" it off - it was less than $50 from the Wreckers.

Convenience items:
1. Valet Cupholders from BMP, about $30. Not the greatest design, but I'm not spilling on myself anymore...
2. Keyless entry, aftermarket, about $100. No horn, no lights, just opens and closes the locks, just like I like it.
3. Ebay purchased used BMW CD changer that actually worked with the prewired cable. $60. Nice to have CD tunes!

Best way to blow 50 bucks ? Walk into the nearest nightclub, step up to a chick , buy her a few wodkas and take her for a spin in your "fully modded "E34.....

I agree 100%. First thing I thought of when I saw this thread. Buy some fuel with the other $25 (can't fill the tank :( )

But c'mon, if $50 is your whole mod budget, maybe you need to save that for repairs. I mean if you blow your whole $50 on modding, what happens when your thrust arms go?

Cosmetically I'd also have to vote for ther euro bumper trim, front license plate filler, and the extra front spoiler vents -that would add up to $50 give or take a few.
Just out of curiosity, what was the most common response on the Land cruiser board (FJ40 I presume), and what board was it??

i would say carbon fibre eyebrows/eyelids.. cost me 68 bucks shipped from poland to canada. they totally change the look of the front end.. modernize it and make the inpro angel eyes look %500 better by taking off the top bit that shouldn't be there

HIR Low Beam bulbs for $60, or if you are willing to deal with short bulb life and using O-rings to center the bulbs, swapping the stock low beams for 9005 bulbs ($15). It's great to see at night.
