95 540 manual trans conversion questions

Hi all - I have a 95 540i with a failing transmission. I'd like to put a manual transmission into it.

- Am I "stuck" with the 6 speed from the sport/e39, or will a 5speed from a 530 fit? The cost difference is considerable(I'd LOVE to have the 6speed, but 5s are WAY cheaper!).

- Is there a resource detailing pieces needed?

I beleive that the 5 speed from the 530i is the same trans used in the e36 M3. I am not sure how much power & torque those can handle. You are going to need a flywheel - not sure who makes a reasonable non dual mass unit. I have seen them from UUC but they are way expensive.
