Did a water pump, timing belt & tensioner replacement on my Wife's Dodge Caravan....Whoa! What piece of automotive sadomasochism that Mitsubishi 3.0L V6 is!

Everything on the front of the block appears as an after thought. The water pump is buried by layers of intertwined brackets, plates and mounts, all with bolts ranging from 10mm to 15mm in no logical order.

After it was all done I had to pause and open the hood of the old 525i, kiss that M20 and hum a few bars of Deutschland Uber Alles.

the 5 cylinder in a 850/70 series volvo is fun too, and pricey if you do the hydraulic tensioner too it's around $275 at my cost in parts, i looked at the mini cooper s that was in the shop the other day and my god if theres a belt down in there it would take the cake

Yeah, those hydraulic tensioners are a dealer's $$dream$$. It was either dig up a tiny machinist's vise to compress the piston or pay the a Mazda dealer $400 for a new one.
