Yeah I got it sorted out.

At first I thought it was the trip meter button sticking and causing it to stay on...

Since the car has a minor leak above drivers side door -- few drops go in every now and then; trying to sort that out right now too; the cluster got some moisture in it and i guess got shorted out which left the thing on just as if the button was sticking. As soon as I dried it out, it went away.

Not sure if that helps you, but I guess it wont hurt if I put it out there.
