possible problems 1993 540i

Hi guys,

After a 2 months search, today I came across a 1993 540 i with 150.000 miles and fully packed with options.I am wondering if you an pint me a out some particular 540 engine/transmission weaknesses which I should be aware of before buying the car. After reving the engine up to 3000 rpm and letting go of the throttle I noticed a small vibration in the engine, noticable in the drivers seat.

a slight vibration isnt all uncommon, the most significant thing that people whine about is the Nikasil engine option. Some are lead to beleave that they melt overnight. You should check the engine codes and see if its Niky or Alusil alloys, if its Nikasil then you should be able to bargain down on the price of the car.
