coz i got the shitty manual powered sunroof(little thing u gotta spin to get it open). rest of the car is full electric( all windows, mirrors, etc) and this thing realy pisses me off. i want to convert to electical and i am curious if i have to get the new roof itself or just the motor/reductor sistem.
any sugestions?

I had a 1990 Audi that had the manual handle for the sunroof, push the button, spin one way and it lifts, push button spin the other way and it slides open. I kinda liked it cuz I could still operate it after the car was shut off, also no possibility of electrical problems!
The one touch power open and close of the 5'er is nice, though. Good luck with the retrofit.

of europe . it's kinda the same as the 525 td (about 50 cc less displacement), it produces the same power, that being 115 hp. mine puts out about 134 hp ( custom exaust, 2.1 bar turbine). it burns about 9 liters in town and 7 outside if u ride fairly smooth, wich is very economical if u consider the absurdly high gas prices here, and the reasonable diesel price...

In Europe only, I think. It is the same engine that got fitted into the 524td E28, basically a 524d engine with a turbo added. Got replaced by a 525td and later with 525tds (intercooled). My local mechanic says the engines are not as good as BMW's Ottos. They last approx. 200k miles - after that, it's cheaper to get a new engine than to make an overhaul.

On my car you can still operate all the windows and the sunroof until you open and close any door.Of course if you leave it open by mistake you can still use the full closure system, turn key to double lock position and hold it there, each window will close and then the sunroof. If you ant to leave the sunroof tilted open return the key to the normal position when the windows have closed...i think its a neat system!
