Since I have to pull off the intake plenum to replace the spark plugs on my dad's mitsu eclipse, I figured I'd clean the throttle body while I'm in there.

These are the before an after photos.

Car has 95,000 miles on it.

you think so? I thought that was about normal for almost 100k miles of driving. The car really doesn't put any oil into the exhaust that I can tell, although he does have a habit of running the thing 10k miles between an oil change.

I put synthetic in and didn't tell him, so if he thinks it has to be done at 3k miles, he'll wait till 10 and probably be ok next time :)

Haha, I hear that one winfred. I have to clean the volvo TB every time I'm home from college, it dirties up faster than any car I've ever worked on.

As an added bonus, when the TB on the volvo gets to about 1/4 of the one posted above, it starts stalling alot, I'm sure you see that alot.

just make sure that you keep the flame trap clean and don't let the manifold nipple and vacuum line that goes to it clog up or it will start chuffing out seals, you usually need to use a drill bit to clean out the nipple
