I rearended some guy in an SUV with a receiver hitch. Pretty much wiped out the front end of my 5. The bodyshop quoted me about $8k, before hidden damage. So, long story short, I am looking for my next car. At the top of my short list is an e36 M3. I found one at an independent lot that they claim has 65k miles. Conditions looks more like 165k. I am hoping some one could please carfax this VIN...

E36's are okay, but there's lots that you will miss about your e34 after a week of driving that.

OK, I ran it.... came up with a potential odometer problem.

Here's a link to the report. If that doesn't work, email me and I'll send you the saved file. jmthames@cableone.net

The car looked a little ragged. I really wasn't planning on buying it. It just didn't "feel" right. I just wanted to know if my hunch was correct. 103k wouldn't scare me if it was documented and clean. But this car had bad JuJu.

I will probably look for a clean 535 or 540 with a 5 speed also. I just kind of wanted something different. I like the looks of the e36 M3 in a 2 door. But it is a smaller car with less trunk. And, after sitting in one, I thought my e34 felt like it had more "quality". I am also considering a 911sc or 944 turbo but I doubt I would get one. I like the BMW's because they are just more practical. I may just buy a pickup like one of the old 93-95 Ford Lightnings, only because I see alot of house rennovation in my future. So... Right now I am just considering options that won't require a car-payment.

Brother has an 95 M3 that he leaves with me when overseas and I love the accelleration but always quickly revert back to my 535i. Comfort and yes the quality in 5 is higher........

Sooo… I'm new to this site, and I joined specifically because of this thread.

I am a licensed and bonded retail auto dealer in Arizona. I was looking at some of the auction listings online and this same M3 was listed at an auction in LA. I noticed that the OP was from Arizona. Did you see this car in Arizona? What dealer was it at and is it online so I can try and check out some pictures before I buy it from the auction? Also, it was mentioned that it was a bit rough. In what way is it not so good.

I may be new to this site, but definitely not new to BMW's. I've owned several E36 M3's, an E30 M3, an E39 M5, a few other E39's, an M-Coupe, a 2001 750il, and a few others. I'm an enthusiast as well as a car dealer. I'm sold my last E36 M3 back in July/August after putting about $4k into it, and owning it for a few years. I'm itching to have another one and thinking of picking up this car at the auction and bringing it back to Arizona.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David.

P.S.

I just realized that this thread is from back in 2004. I'm not familiar with the format of this website and when I was looking at the dates I thought it was created this month. Now that I see it's 7 years old. Any information anyone would have about this car is likely not accurate anymore. Sooo… Unless someone has seen this car recently then nevermind I said anything.

thanks. :)
