(Beware obsessive statistical evaluation contained within...)

I was just comparing my two vehicles stats over a 2.5 year time period:

The 535i has:
-Averaged 19.867 mpg since i've owned it
-While driving about 35k miles.
-And has cost $0.167/mi for gas($0.082/mi), maintenance and repairs.
-That is $0.286/mi including the purchase price
-Which is effectively about $0.242/mi with resale value.

Meanwhile my 97 Chev K1500 5.0L truck has:
-Averaged 13.535 mpg (hmm...the last 3 digits... ;) )
-While driving about 30k miles
-Cost $0.166/mile for gas($0.102/mi) maintenance and repairs.
-And $0.625/mi overall
-Which is about $0.32/mi including resale value.

Isn't it rather interesting that it costs within a $0.001/mi to operate these two very different types of vehicles? (Although the truck costs more overall including the fixed costs(purchase/resale prices).)

(If you'd like to do such 'exciting' statistical evaluations on your own vehicles, just write the mileage on all of your gas/repair receipts and type the info into excel...) :p

Once all that work is done, you can also make some nice charts out of the data...
