what is the 2 pin connector behind the radio for?

Hi,
found a two pin plug in the dash behind the radio area coming from right hand side, it has i think green and brown wires any ideas????
i have a matching plug thst fits from my radio`s loom but the colours of the wires are different.

guessing here but i thought it was for the tap in, so the radio could display text on the dash..

the plug does fit into radio looms plug but it doesn`t seem to do anything on the dash.

brown is ALWAYS ground..........I think it's either a back-up 12v or dimmer/illumination lead.........put a meter on it and see if/when the voltage changes : with dimmer ; headlight switch ; or ignition?
