the sound from the gong on my 535i sport seems very quiet how loud are they supposed to be?

You're lucky, mine makes me jump a bit every time it goes off. "Gong", jump, oh yah, it's 37 degrees, potential icy conditions on the roads. Humph.

mines this loud...can you hear it!!

erm it should be audiable as a gong, if you think its quiet then its possibly come loose and is not directing the sound through the holes.

have a look above your pedals, i think you should be able to drop the cover down without taking off the panel next to the steering wheel but i cant remember and just make sure the beeper, steel round looking thing is seated correctly

the 1999 740i I just bought has a huge range of gong loudnesses. Some of them are quite loud, but others, like the Speed Limit warning is barely audible. Others, like the Temperature warning is somewhat soft. I don't know if this is by design, but it really seems strange to me.

i read somewhere that the gong has four different sounds, but mine is real quiet.

the different sounds are for different events

speed warning
clock chime
ice warning
coolent low etc

you cant alter which sound is for what btw
