Rear window heater

Very weird issue. It just started raining in Egypt today and we lost our beatifull sun. The rear window heater is only functioning in one section of the window and the other lines are not heating. Any idea why is this happening and what do I need to do to get it fixed. My car is 520i 1990 E34.
