I have a 1995 BMW 540i with the stock BMW head radio/cd changer controller. The head identifies itself as an "alpine3" (by pushing the "prog" and "-" key simultaneously).

In the trunk I use a BMW-PIO/M converter cable to drive a Pioneer CDX-M30 CD Changer.

I'd like to switch the Pioneer CDX-M30 to an Alpine CHA-S634. Is this possible?

There is a KCA-130B adapter which allows the Alpine CD changer to speak Alpine M-bus.

Is it possible it possible to make the Alpine M-bus compatible with the M-bus from a BMW-PIO cable?

if you have a functioning cdx-m30 id stick with that, most of the alpines i've seen have a slower transport or something and seem to take forever to lock onto a track

Unfortunately, my CDX-M30 is now acting up. Periodically, I get "DISC ERROR" messages.
