Hi everybody,I found the forum in a google search coz I have a serious problem with the motor oil...
The car is a M50B20 in E34 without VANOS etc etc...Last year my father made a rebuild of the engine after the camshaft chain broke and the motor was f***ed up...as long as i know he changed everything except the engine block...I can say that we have a brand new motor right now!! :p :D The my father drove it for 20.000 km and gave it to me after I bumped a liiiitle bit my E30 with the M50-B25 motor ;) :D ...I have this car about 30-40.000 km ,this means 60.000 km from the rebuild...Since now I was changing the oil every 10.000 km and used Castrol RS Formula 0W-40 full synthetic oil and must say that for these 10.000-13.500 km the oil stayed to "max" just like I was filling it from the begining...3 months ago i had to make an oil change and didn't have the money ,I was saving for a DVD, and used Castrol Magnatec 10W40 ,I don't know hot it is in English, half synthetic half mineral perhaps?? ;) anyway...the first 4.000 km were great! The engine was working smoooothhlyyyy :p and the oil level was fine but after 5.000 km from the oil change I checked the oil and i Found it on min!! WTF?? From 4000 to 5000 km ,from max to min...Jeesh! I change the oil with the same one...I did a drift and burnout ( 3 mins of burnout @ 5-6.000 rpm in 2nd gear) checked the oil next morning and there was no change at the level...till 4000 km...today I'm in 5200 and the level is between max and min in the middle...And now for my questions!:
1)why the full synthetic stays unchanged level and why my engine drinks the halfsynthetic after 5000 km
2)what engine oil is the best for my brand new M50 baby? Because I'm driving it little faster than my dad :p
3) there is a hose which begins from the upper front side of the engine and get's into the throttle body..the technician said that it is when the engine cold starts to have hot air?!? I see that it is full of oil and dust all the engine bay...is it possible from there??
4)What about BMW oil 5W-30 full synthetic???
Sorry for my bad English guys but I can't find any competent answer to my questions.Thank you in advance and take some pictures from my E34 - DiamantScwarch Metallic :p

I dont know if you have mobil 1 synthetic where you are but most of us run mobil1 0w40 oil. I think for whatever you use the car for you should run a full synthetic, it doesnt break down like dino oils and doesnt burn the additives off as fast as the dino oil either. What you are realizing between 4-5k is the additive package burning off (broken down oil)...not a good thing if you drive the car hard as it looks you do. Your engine will wear more on broken down oil than if you never changed synthetic.
