Instrument cluster is it dying

My instrument cluster does not hold miles driven. Everytime i start the car it is back to 0 (zero). The P,N,D,3,2,1 don't light up anymore (is there a light in the back for this).

Also, the info section on the cluster that tells you the time and milage and so on is that supposed to be on or just when you turn it on by the turn signal. My first BMW, still learning. Thanks

sounds like a couple capacitors are failing on you. also you probably have a bulb or 2 out, hopefully its just a shitty connection and the capacitors are fine.

And the info panel at the bottom is supposed to be off until you click the turn signal lever in one time.
