my 1989 520 has the very old speedometer without the digital odometer and other things. Can i just take it out and upgrade it to the one with digital display.( will all the functions work or just the basic ones)
I also have a analogue clock instead of the obc. I cant upgrade it to the obc because the obc cant comunicate with the speedometer (old one). With the new one, will it be possible to upgrade it.
Do you have any idea of the prices of an used obc and speedometer?
Thanks very much in advance

that doesnt sound like an easy swap because of the newer wiring and computer obc stuff

The only way I can think of to figure out it that will work is this:

1) Get an ETK CD
2) Punch your VIN in and the get the part numbers of key things like the wiring harness, connector clips, etc.
3) Get the VIN from the donor vehicle you plan to get the parts from.
4) Compare the part numbers of the harness and clips to see if they are the same.

If they are the same, it might work. You'll likely have to verify that the sensors are in place as well for OBC functions, etc.

If they are different, I don't think you have a chance.

Good luck!
