For the past couple of weekends I have been hauling some significant weight in my car, which is lowered and on Bilstein sports and yesterday afternoon a few miles from home, w/ a full trunk and 2 rear seat passengers the left rear shock came up right through the mount about 3". The rear shelf was slightly damaged but thats about it. The mounts only had around 20k on them and had significant weight on them only a handful of times prior to this weekend, but i guess i have learned my lesson: Lowered E34's aren't meant for hauling.

Get your money back and buy some BMW mounts and this would not happen.

I'd have to agree with you , with original mounts this would have never happend. Just came back from holidays with a 535 i lowered 55 mm allround packed to the max with three people doing over 120 mph constantly and all was fine and dandy with the old 5.
