My dad recently bought one of these for my brother, without actually seeing the car... It's really gutless, and the auto tranny is constantly shifting at highway speeds just to maintain 100k. I know diesels aren't generally fast, but I've driven an older Pathfinder with a manual transmission and same engine, and it was significantly more powerfull, which leads me to believe there's something wrong... There is some degree of electronic control, and from what limited information I could gather on the net, it seems they go through an air mass sensor about once every 60k.

The car turned out to be a bit rough around the edges when we got it, so we changed oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, had the tappets adjusted. That improved the performance slightly, but I still think there's something not right. The 'check engine' light comes on, and goes off as soon as the engine starts, as per normal.
